Tolworth Removals
We undertake home moves in and around Tolworth and Surbiton using our fleet of Luton Vans which are perfect for parking in driveways and on narrow streets in the area. While most people living in Tolworth will be aware of the following, if you are planning to move to there and would like to know a little more about the area, we hope the following notes will be useful.
Tolworth consists of 1930’s low-density semi-detached properties together with small and medium commercial and retail developments. Like New Malden and Berrylands, it owes its growth to its proximity to London by train and by road.
Kingston by-pass was opened in 1927 and made it easier to get to London and Guildford. The station opened in 1938 allowing journey times to London of around 30-minutes.
The local Broadway provides local shopping, but the area immediately adjacent to the A3 is dominated by Tolworth Tower, a 22-story office block in concrete 1960’s style designed by the architect Richard Seifert.
The local radio station, Radio Jackie is the oldest independent radio station in London.
The offices and studios of Radio Jackie, a commercial radio station broadcasting to south-west London and north Surrey, can be found on the Broadway. The broadcast mast is sited, with many other antennae, atop Tolworth Tower.
